Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are among a few other Premier League clubs interested in signing Benfica star Darwin Nunez this summer.

The Uruguayan has been the talk of the town lately. He has been absolutely sensational for Benfica this term having scored 31 goals in all competitions, including a very impressive hat-trick at the weekend.

West Ham United were close to securing a deal for Nunez in January but that deal collapsed. It’s unlikely that the Hammers can lure him away now considering all the interest in him.

Along with Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester City, the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United in the Premier League and Paris Saint-Germain from France are all keen to sign him.

Darwin Nunez prefers Arsenal or Tottenham over the two Manchester clubs

According to a report from The Sun, Nunez is prepared to leave Benfica for a club in the Premier League this summer. However, he isn’t just prepared to sign for the highest bidder.

Manchester City have been linked with Nunez and the player is a reportedly huge admirer of Pep Guardiola. However, Nunez and his representatives feel he wouldn’t be a good fit at the Etihad Stadium and isn’t willing to go there.

Manchester United are another side keen to sign Nunez but the player’s camp view a move to Old Trafford as a big risk due to the club’s current situation.

The report claims that Nunez prefers a move to one of Arsenal, Tottenham or Liverpool instead of the two Manchester clubs, and luckily for him, all three of his preferred options are said to be keen to sign him.

TBR View:

Darwin Nunez will almost certainly leave Benfica this summer and whichever club he ends up in will have a fine player on their hands.

The Uruguayan is good with his feet, excellent in the air and has already proven that he is a prolific goalscorer. The Premier League is a completely different ball game compared to the Portuguese top-flight but the fact that he’s still only 22 means he’ll only get better in the coming years.

Benfica manager Nelson Verissimo wants Benfica to receive the same amount of money for Nunez that they did for Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid back in 2019 – £113 million.

However, the report claims that Benfica are prepared to let him leave for around £65 million, which should be easily affordable for Arsenal and Tottenham this summer.
