Everton targeting Conor Coady swoop this summer

England and Wolves defender Conor Coady is a summer transfer target for Everton, according to a report by TeamTalk.

They report that the Molineux skipper is a shock name on the list at Goodison Park if Frank Lampard guides his side to safety.

The report says that new sporting director Kevin Thelwell, who was at Wolves when Coady was signed in 2015, could be a trump card.

But Coady grew up supporting Liverpool, telling the Express and Star in 2018: “It’s a red household I was brought up in, everyone’s a Liverpool fan.

“Well, my uncle comes to every single Wolves game and he’s the only blue in our family! He gets stick left, right and centre.”

Everton have been here before recently with someone who has red connections, in the shape of Rafa Benitez, who was just never going to work out.

This one looks unlikely to happen. Everton have to stay up to have any chance at all, but even then, Coady is likely to turn them down if there’s anything in this report.

He is the captain at Wolves, playing in a back three which suits him and has him in the race for European football and established in the England squad.

Coady even scored the winner at Goodison Park last month, as Wolves won 1-0, underlining the difference between the two sides.
