‘Not sure about that’: Gary Neville completely disagrees with Carragher’s CL claim about Liverpool

Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher weren’t on the same page while speaking about Liverpool in the Champions League this season.

The Reds, despite a disappointing defeat to Inter Milan last week, made their way into the quarter-final of the Champions League.

As they always are, Jurgen Klopp’s side are among the favourites to go all the way, but there are a few really good teams left in the competition who can get one over Liverpool on their day.

Carragher, however, believes that there’s only one club in the Champions League at the moment who can stop Liverpool from winning the competition.

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville disagree about Liverpool in the Champions League

Speaking on The Monday Night Debate on Sky Sports last night, Carragher said: “The one I’d be worried about for Liverpool would be Man City, that’s when I’d think it’s a 50/50 game.

“Anyone else, Liverpool in the Champions League, I think they’d win.

Neville, who has won the competition in the past with Manchester United, didn’t quite agree.

Responding to Carragher’s comment, he said: “I’m not sure about that at all.”

Liverpool will back themselves to beat any team in the world and it can be said that Manchester City are the main threat to their hopes of winning the Champions League after whatever happens in the Premier League title race.

However, there are other sides in the competition who could cause the Reds a few problems.

13-time Champions League winners Real Madrid looked really good against PSG and they’ll be eyeing the European crown again. Bayern Munich, who smashed seven past Salzburg in the last round, are contenders as well, while defending Champions Chelsea, despite everything that’s going on, cannot be disregarded.

It will be interesting to see what happens but it definitely won’t be as easy for Liverpool as Carragher thinks it will be.
