£45m player is becoming increasingly frustrated at Arsenal, may now look to leave in January

Thomas Partey is now becoming increasingly frustrated by his diminished position at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta this season.

That’s according to 90min who shared that Partey was particularly annoyed not to start against Chelsea on Saturday.

Therefore the £45m midfielder may consider his options around the New Year if the situation hasn’t improved.

The report does suggest that Partey is willing to fight to reclaim his place in the Arsenal side, even if his chances at defensive midfield have now diminished.

It wouldn’t seem correct to say that Declan Rice’s arrival has been the cause of Partey’s reduction in minutes.

Rather, Jorginho has simply been preferred since Partey has returned from injury, a choice many fans will think is sensible.

Although the midfielder is frustrated at this role, he has often been rushed back from injury far too quickly.

And many fans will think it’s a wise choice by Mikel Arteta to use Partey sparingly for Arsenal right now.

That being said, the Ghanaian does seem very likely to start against Sevilla tonight.

Partey is already frustrated by his role under Arteta at Arsenal

The man who is currently playing in Partey’s ideal role, Jorginho, has actually admitted his desire to improve his own performances.

Although he fared well in the win against Manchester City, Jorginho has had some tricky moments against Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Of course, the teams mentioned do prove how much Arteta trusts the Italian in these big moments.

And it does seem a little premature that Partey is reportedly worrying about his role in the side.

Had Partey not suffered an untimely injury, it would seem very unlikely that he would miss out on Arteta’s strongest Arsenal XI.

And upon his return to the side, which will likely come tonight as mentioned, Partey is unlikely to return to the bench.

Arteta seems keen to try Rice in a more advanced role on the left, a position vacated by Granit Xhaka – one that is causing some problems

However, that should leave a familiar role for Partey in the middle.
