‘That’s the best’… Ange Postecoglou now shares what James Maddison told him in first conversation

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has shared what delighted him when he first spoke to summer signing James Maddison.

It has been a fantastic start to the season for Tottenham as they sit second in the Premier League so far, and the summer signings have been a huge reason for this.

James Maddison signed from recently relegated Leicester City in the summer transfer window for £40m and has been on great form.

The English international has three goals and five assists in his 11 Premier League appearances so far this season and Spurs fans will love to hear what he said to Ange Postecoglou in their first conversation.

Ange Postecoglou on first conversation with Tottenham’s James Maddison

The Spurs manager has instantly become a fan favourite at the North London club. The manager has shared what Maddison told him in their first conversation which absolutely delighted him.

Postecoglou was on TNT Sports ‘Behind the Lines‘ with Rio Ferdinand. Speaking about some of the new signings, including Maddison, the Spurs manager said: “I try and make a conversation and you see where the conversation goes. It’s the ones where you just see it in them that nothing is as important as they just want to be at the club.

“When I spoke to Vicario or Van De Ven or even Madders it was like I want to play for Tottenham, I want to play for you guys. When you hear that in your voice that’s the best starting point for me.”

This is no doubt great to hear, especially when Newcastle were also interested in Maddison over the summer transfer window.

Despite the poor season Spurs had last campaign, it was good to see that they still had the pull with a new manager to sign top talents. Sadly, the attacking midfielder has picked up an injury and he will not be available for the match against Wolves this weekend.

Maddison has felt like the missing attacking midfielder the club have been wanting for years so it is great to see how well he has started at the club.
