Tottenham still interested in signing ‘fantastic’ £43m player who hasn’t played a single minute this season

New reports suggest that Tottenham are still keen on signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah as they look to bolster their squad.

According to 90min, Tottenham are already planning for the January transfer window and they have decided that they want to prioritise getting a centre-back.

Spurs are apparently ‘continuing to monitor’ Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah. The defender was a player who the club apparently wanted in the summer transfer window.

It looks like the North London club could make a move for signings in January, and with them currently top of the Premier League, it makes a lot of sense to strengthen the squad.

Tottenham still want to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah

The ‘fantastic‘ defender has risen from the Blues academy over the years; however, he has struggled to consistently start for the club.

This has been due to injuries, but also due to the manager at the time not favouring the 24 year-old centre-back.

The player, who Chelsea value at around £43m is currently injured at the moment, with him suffering an injury setback in October. If he could recover from this injury before January, then he could be a very good signing.

Chalobah is very versatile as he can play across the back four and in defensive midfield if needed. He is also still very young and clearly has a high ceiling.

The only issue of course is that Chalobah is yet to play a single minute in any competition this season due to injury. Spurs definitely need a stronger squad if they want to stay top of the division, and this makes the possible signing a risk as they do not know if his current long-term injury will cause further problems. Chalobah is not the only defender they are linked with. Spurs are also keen on Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.

It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham can keep their good momentum going. No one would have expected them to be top of the division and this will no doubt make it easier to attract stars in the January transfer window.
