Chris Sutton has branded Carl Starfelt and his decision making as “horrendous” during BT Sport’s coverage of the 2-0 win over Ferencvaros.
The Hoops dominated from start to finish on Tuesday afternoon at Parkhead. Indeed, they really should have scored a lot more than just two.
Despite that domination, it took until nearly the hour mark for Kyogo Furuhashi to open the scoring – latching on to a gorgeous pass from Jota.
The Portuguese winger was sensational throughout, launching a driven pass into the path of Kyogo – who finished superbly after a good touch.
Callum McGregor missed a penalty, but he won the ball back for Jota to slid the ball into David Turnbull – who bundled the ball into the net.
Celtic did keep a clean sheet – but Starfelt almost threw it away. A lapse in concentration almost saw Ferenvaros get one back. Sutton was not happy.
“Why? I don’t know why he takes the chance. Horrendous decision making, the Celtic fans would not have been doing the huddle if that goes in.”

Starfelt struggling: Is Celtic signing proving to be a bit of a flop?
The £4.5million (Record) signing has now clocked up 17 appearances for the Hoops – but already, he has made numerous high-profile mistakes.
The most-obvious one is probably his own goal against FC Midtjylland – volleying into his own net. He was also at fault for one of Hearts’ two goals.
For such a princely sum, he is being outplayed by the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers and at times, Stephen Welsh.
When Christoper Jullien returns, you would expect the Frenchman partners USA ace Carter-Vickers and Starfelt drops out of the side. Time will tell.
