Pep Guardiola now says there’s something Tottenham Hotspur fans ‘can admit’ before Manchester City game

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has given his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur under head coach Ange Postecoglou.

Guardiola has said that he enjoys watching Tottenham under former Celtic manager Postecoglou.

So, what has Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said about Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou? Let’s take a look.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola praises Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou

Well, Manchester City will take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.

City are doing well at the moment, while Spurs have lost their last three Premier League matches.

The Citizens, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, are second in the league table with 29 points from 13 matches, a point behind leaders Arsenal.

Tottenham are now fifth with 26 points from 13 games, two points behind Aston Villa in fourth. Ray Parlour has backed City to win big.

Spurs may have lost their last three league games, but under former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou, they have played very attacking football throughout the 90 minutes and even when they were down to nine players.

And, as you can see below, City manager Pep Guardiola has been impressed and does not think that Postecoglou will change his style.

The Manchester Evening News quotes Guardiola as saying: “Ask him if they change when they play against us, absolutely not. Will not happen, will be surprised.

“I met him in pre-season playing Yokohma, I saw some clips and I said ‘wow’. There are things I like. I told the players, we are not ready because it’s pre-season, but we will face a good team, the build-up, high pressing.

“We won, all respect to Yokohama but we had better players. Since then I follow him, how good he did in Glasgow. In a short time is there.”

Guardiola added: “He’s already there, in a short time, even the games they didn’t win lately, I’m impressed how good things they do and chances they create. Aggressive all departments. He came here and you recocgnise perfectly his team.

“Every team plays for the desire of the manager, what he’s done in Japan and Glasgow with Celtic and now. He makes football a better place, people like Ange. I enjoy a lot their approach, all the Spurs fans can admit the impact has been quick.”

Postecoglou needs to be pragmatic v Manchester City

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou needs to be pragmatic against Manchester City. I do not think that Spurs should be as attacking as they usually are.

Now, of course, I am not saying that Tottenham should play defensive football. Absolutely not. But, Spurs have to be more aware defensively and should try to win the midfield battles.

City have arguably the best squad in England, and I believe that Tottenham should not try to take them on. They have to be smart about how they approach the game.
