Spurs drop big hint on ‘unbelievable’ VDV and Romero replacement v Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has a selection headache ahead of their next Premier League fixture this Saturday.

Spurs duo Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie are suspended, while Micky van de Ven suffered a hamstring issue which could keep him out long-term.

Eric Dier is likely to come into the Tottenham starting XI for the game against Wolves, while the second centre-back position is up for grabs.

However, Spurs appear to have dropped some hints ahead of the match which fans should be fairly excited over.

Spurs summer signing Ashley Phillips looks set to make the matchday squad at the very least, and potentially even start.

The 18-year-old has featured in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy this term, but he wasn’t named in the Under-21s latest squad.

Tottenham’s youngsters took on Cambridge United on Tuesday night, and Phillips wasn’t involved at all.

Spurs ace Ashley Phillips ‘will be ready’

The £3million signing from Blackburn has also been spotted in Spurs senior training at Hotspur Way.

And Tottenham teammate Dejan Kulusevski seems confident about the prospect of Phillips starting for the first team too.

The Sweden international told football.london earlier this week: “Yeah, probably he is ready.

“It is the coach that decides that, but I think every player is unbelievable in training.

“Everybody is ready, everybody wants to play and it is so high level, the training. So, if he will be called, he will be ready.”

Phillips has already made 14 senior appearances for Blackburn and looked a cut above in the Championship.

It’ll be exciting to see how he fare should he make the XI against Wolves on Saturday.
