‘Working hard in silence’… Eric Dier so impressed by £25m Tottenham teammate who’s not played this season

Eric Dier has paid tribute to Ryan Sessegnon on social media, praising his Tottenham Hotspur teammate for how hard he is working while he battles injury.

Dier took to his Instagram story to laud the 23-year-old who is yet to make an appearance for Ange Postecoglou’s side so far this season.

Ryan Sessegnon has been desperately unlucky during his time at Tottenham. It looked to be a massive coup for Spurs when they landed the £25 million starlet after he burst onto the scene.

Unfortunately, he has struggled to really prove himself so far. And injury has definitely played a major part in the fact that he has only made 56 appearances for the club in all competitions.

The Daily Mail reported that he underwent surgery on another hamstring injury in the summer. And while they reported in September that Sessegnon was back in light training, the youngster is still waiting to make his return.

Certainly, Eric Dier has been impressed by how hard Sessegnon is working at Hotspur Way to get back out on the pitch.

Dier posted on his Instagram story with the message: ‘always working hard in silence’, as he posted a picture with his teammate.

Opening Tottenham star needed has come while he is sidelines

Unfortunately, Tottenham’s squad is being decimated with injury right now, with Rodrigo Bentancur the latest to return to the sidelines. That may make the situation all the more agonising for Sessegnon in some ways.

The likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil are getting opportunities that they were not receiving at the start of the campaign. Certainly, you would think that neither player would be in Postecoglou’s first-choice lineup if he had everyone available.

So the adversity could prove a turning point for one or two players. And that was arguably exactly what Sessegnon needed after such terrible luck during his time in North London.
