David Seaman shares what he text to Aaron Ramsdale straight after Arsenal vs Brentford last week

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is having quite the turbulent season at the moment, having lost his place to David Raya in the sticks.

The former Sheffield United stopper has seen his place lost after Raya’s arrival. Despite repeated comments from Mikel Arteta on both players being in his plans, it has become clear Raya is the main man. Indeed, it’s even suggested Arteta will allow the England man to leave in January for the right money.

However, Ramsdale got his chance last weekend at Brentford. And in the first half, it couldn’t have gone much worse.

Ramsdale nearly gave two goals away with bizarre mistakes and while he kept a clean-sheet in the end, it was a nervy affair in the main.

And speaking to the Seaman Says Podcast, former Gunners stopper David Seaman has revealed a text exchange he had with Ramsdale after the game.

David Seaman shares text he sent to Aaron Ramsdale after Brentford

Speaking on his podcast, Seaman admitted he’d sent Ramsdale a message after the game.

“I text him after and said I felt for you in that first half but when you threw it out it made me laugh. I have been there and done that! When you see something that’s on and then you go full out on the throw and then it bobbles out and there’s nothing you can do,” Seaman said.

Unfortunately for Ramsdale, David Raya came back into the side for 6-0 mauling of Lens in midweek and there is little sign of him being dropped for this weekend.

Ramsdale needs to leave

Mikel Arteta has sold Ramsdale down the river a bit with this and his lack of honesty to the media on the situation just stinks really.

If right at the start he’d have simply said that he wants a new goalkeeper and Raya is his man, then that’s fine.

But he’s effectively spun a web of mistruths in a way and it’s left Ramsdale looking a bit silly and also under huge pressure whenever he does play for Arsenal.

He simply has to get out in January and go somewhere as a number one. Raya is now Arsenal’s main goalkeeper and that isn’t changing any time soon.
