‘It’s embarrassing’: Gabby Agbonlahor can’t believe what PL player has been saying about £60m Tottenham man

Gabby Agbonlahor has now been voicing his disapproval of Michail Antonio’s recent comments on Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison.

Agbonlahor was speaking on talkSPORT and was discussing comments Antonio made on the ‘Footballer’s Football Podcast’ in the past.

The pundit thought Antonio’s criticism of Richarlison’s goal scoring record was embarrassing given his own lack of goals this season.

And he mentioned a moment from West Ham’s defeat against Brentford yesterday when lamenting the Antonio’s comments.

Agbonlahor thought it was slightly distasteful that Antonio was criticising Tottenham’s Richarlison whilst he was still playing himself.

He said: “He’s [Antonio] on a podcast every week talking about how he’s desperate for goals, he was sliding in because he’s desperate for goals, because he wants to talk about it on his podcast next weekend.

“It’s embarrassing it is.”

Agbonlahor continued: “You can’t be coming for Richarlison and then you’re not banging in goals yourself.

“I don’t mind Callum Wilson because he’s putting the goals in, he’s scoring goals.

“But you’re not backing it, Antonio.”

Agbonlahor wasn’t happy with Antonio’s criticism of Richarlison at Tottenham

Whilst Richarlison does still have a very modest goal record at Spurs, his level of performances have been improving.

Like many under Ange Postecoglou, the Brazilian is now making clear progress in a more fluid and positive side.

However, Brennan Johnson is now putting a lot of pressure on Richarlison’s spot and could start against Chelsea tomorrow.

Either way, Spurs fans will surely feel that £60m Richarlison doesn’t deserve criticism right now, especially when he’s improving.

And although Agbonhalor had an issue with Antonio making the comments, rather than his criticism of Richarlison itself, Tottenham fans will be pleased to see the words reflected.

Moreover, from their point of view, all eyes will be focused on a tie with their bitter-rivals Chelsea on Monday.

Mauricio Pochettino is likely to receive a frosty reception back in North London given the team he arrives with.

And if past meetings are anything to judge by, we could be set for a very feisty affair.
