Arsenal have had a tough patch of form recently.
Indeed, the Gunners may have beaten Sevilla on Wednesday, but they suffered back-to-back defeats before that game, and it’s no coincidence that their dip in form coincided with a spell out of the team for Martin Odegaard.
The Norwegian has spent plenty of time on the bench as of late, and while he came on towards the end of the West Ham game, he’s not been seen since.
Speaking on the Fantasy 606 Podcast, Chris Sutton has been discussing Odegaard’s situation, and he says he’s getting a bit worried about the midfielder as his fitness issues seem to be worse than first thought.
Sutton worried about Odegaard
The pundit shared his concerns about the £30m man.
“One player who we haven’t had an injury update on who is on my team and I am getting concerned about is Odegaard. What is going on there? He came on for a little cameo against West Ham didn’t he, but he didn’t play against Newcastle, what is going on there?” Sutton said.
Worrying
It’s always worrying when a player suddenly ends up sidelined with no explanation.
One minute everything’s fine, the next, there’s an ongoing issue that goes from week to week without any end.
Of course, it could just be a case that Odegaard needed a bit of a rest, which would be ideal, but we’ve seen these scenarios play out so many times before, and we wouldn’t be shocked if Odegaard was carrying something quite worrying at the moment.
Fingers crossed we’re reading into this wrong and the midfielder is back in action before too long, but, as Sutton says, it’s hard to not be worried about Odegaard’s fitness as he’s been absent without explanation as of late.
