‘Excellent’ 25-year-old Leeds player has given Farke reason to be grateful

Leeds United recorded a superb victory in the Championship on Friday night to narrow the gap between themselves and the top two.

Leeds ran out 1-0 winners away at Leicester City thanks to a Georginio Rutter goal in the 58th minute of the match.

The 21-year-old converted from close range after Mads Hermansen palmed away Sam Byram’s header.

Although Rutter got the goal, pretty much every Leeds player on the night impressed.

Daniel James was one of the standout players for the Whites, putting in a superb shift against the league leaders.

The 25-year-old grew into the game and was especially outstanding in the second half. His dribbling made him a constant thorn in Leicester’s side.

James worked hard, kept the ball well, did his best to help out Archie Gray, and his superb corner kick set the stage for the goal.

Byram got his head onto James’ delivery, forcing a save which Rutter fired in on the rebound.

Daniel James giving his all to try and get Leeds back up

James recorded some good stats too. As per Whoscored, he weighed in with three shots, one of which was on target, and three key passes.

He also completed four dribbles, made one tackle and two clearances, and weighed in with seven crosses and two long balls.

Despite spending last season out on loan, James has come back to Leeds and got on with the job at hand.

Considering others jumped ship at the first opportunity, it’s good to see the “excellent” talent staying put to try and get the Elland Road outfit back in the top flight.

Farke should – and likely is – grateful with James staying at Leeds and giving his all, particularly as nobody would’ve blamed him for leaving after what happened with him last season.
