Farke says Leeds summer signing gave ‘his best performance in a White shirt’ v Leicester

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke believes Glen Kamara gave “his best performance in a White shirt” on Friday night.

The Elland Road outfit recorded a 1-0 win away at Leicester City to reduce the gap between the two sides to 11 points.

Leeds overcame their opponents thanks to a Georginio Rutter goal in the 58th minute of the match.

The 21-year-old converted from close range after Mads Hermansen palmed away Sam Byram’s header.

Most of the Leeds players were outstanding on the night, but Kamara was especially impressive, particularly in the opening 70 minutes.

The 28-year-old routinely broke up play, read the game well, sprayed great passes around and made late runs from deep as well.

‘One of the key players’

After the game, Farke was asked by the Yorkshire Evening Post how important it was for Kamara to look after the ball in the first half.

“It was in general quite important that we have many periods where we dominate the ball and scare them,” he said.

Farke then spoke about Kamara, praising his efforts in the game and also for how he has fared at Leeds so far.

“It’s important you keep the ball and apart from one scene or one pass, the first half I think Glen was excellent,” he said.

“And for me it was his best performance in a White shirt, since we signed him and I think he was one of the key players.

“Not in all periods because Leicester was good in possession, but in several periods we were able to keep it well and create really good situations.”

It’s great to see Kamara getting increasingly better Leeds now he has found his feet. No doubt the best is yet to come from the Finland international.

The £5million man is a solid player who puts in a shift, looks silky on the ball and is overall a great acquisition at Elland Road.

Kamara’s efforts have helped Leeds chip away at the Championship leaders’ lead. It’s a long season and the Whites will fancy their chances of eventually catching up.
