Hoops fans received a pleasant surprise this week when the club announced two signings in one.
Joe Hart joined on a three-year deal after much anticipation. What came a little more out of nowhere however, was the news that McCarthy had signed a four-year deal.
McCarthy has been linked with a Parkhead switch this summer. And he had been a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace.
But the announcement itself seemed to catch many off-guard. And he will now be hoping that he can help Ange Postecoglou’s men get themselves back to the summit of Scottish football.
Another player who will hope to see him succeed is McClean. It is no secret that the midfielder is also a supporter of the Bhoys.

McCarthy boasts vast levels of experience in the Premier League. And at 30, he still has plenty to offer.
On a free transfer therefore, a deal really could be inspired. Alongside Callum McGregor, Celtic appear to have the kind of partnership that few sides in the league may be able to live with.
