John Hartson gives instant reaction to Celtic completing double signing on Tuesday

John Hartson has given an excited instant response to Tuesday’s news that his former club Celtic have signed both Joe Hart and James McCarthy.

Celtic announced on their official website on Tuesday afternoon that they have welcomed two new players to Parkhead.

Firstly, the Hoops have agreed to sign 34-year-old goalkeeper Hart from Premier League club Tottenham. The ex-England international joins the Scottish giants to pursue regular football, plus he is going to bring so much experience to the group.

Likewise, 30-year-old McCarthy joins Celtic with a wealth of knowledge under his belt. The Glasgow-born midfielder started his senior career with Hamilton, so is returning home now to Scotland. He was available on a free transfer after leaving Crystal Palace in the summer.

Hartson has celebrated the transfer confirmation with a tweet:

Joe Hart and James McCarthy will lift Celtic spirits tenfold

Of course, Celtic’s squad still needs plenty more improvement. Bhoys manager Ange Postecoglou has been left with a group in need of a major revamp.

However, Tuesday is a step in the right direction for the club.

Hart is immediately going to improve the number one position. His form did drop off a little a few years ago, but it was a positive season last year at Spurs for him without playing too much.

He’s got a point to prove and he could surprise plenty.

Meanwhile, McCarthy is a really strong option in the centre of the park. If fit, he’s going to bring some extra steel and quality on the ball.
