Richard Keys says Mikel Arteta knows he has made a mistake with 24-year-old Arsenal player

Richard Keys has given his verdict on Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz.

The beIN SPORT presenter speculated what Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta thinks about Havertz.

So, what has Richard Keys said about Arsenal midfielder Kai Havertz? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, Kai Havertz scored for Arsenal against Brentford in the Premier League this past weekend.

The Germany international, who can operate as a midfielder or as a forward, did not start the London derby.

Havertz, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, came on as a substitute in the second half and scored in the 89th minute. Granit Xhaka was impressed.

At full time, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta dragged the 24-year-old to the away end to celebrate with the fans. Gary Lineker was not particularly impressed.

And, as you can see below, beIN SPORT presenter Richard Keys did not like it either.

The former Sky Sports pundit believes that Arteta knows deep inside that he has made a mistake signing Havertz.

Arsenal paid £65 million in transfer fees to Chelsea for Havertz. Arteta was a big figure in the deal.

Keys wrote on his website: “I didn’t like seeing Mikel Arteta marching across the Brentford pitch with his arms round Havertz. It was clear what he really was trying to say. ‘My man. I told you. My man’.

“Arteta knows he dropped a b*****k paying all that money for Havertz so it was more with relief that he was cuddling and pointing at him. ‘I was right all along – you were wrong’. No Mikel. You weren’t.”

Kai Havertz could flourish at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta

In my view, Kai Havertz could flourish at Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta.

Just look at Martin Odegaard. The Norway international attacking midfielder struggled at Real Madrid, but he is now one of the best playmakers in the Premier League.

Arteta has helped Odegaard grow as a footballer and has made him more confident in his ability.

So, why can’t he do that with Havertz? Yes, the Germany international is not having the best of times at Arsenal now, but he is only 24 and could still improve and get better.
