Fabrizio Romano claims 26-year-old will be the next Arsenal player to sign a new contract

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Ben White will be the next player to sign a new contract at Arsenal.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano provided a fresh update on Ben White’s contract talks with Arsenal.

White has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s side ever since signing from Brighton back in 2021. The 26-year-old has operated at right-back over the past year but also provides quality cover at centre-back for Arsenal.

The Gunners have been busy securing the futures of their key players of late, with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard all penning new deals.

Arsenal are confident White will also extend his stay in North London and Romano has shared a positive update on the contract talks.

White set to extend Arsenal stay

Romano claims that while Arsenal are yet to reach a breakthrough in talks with White, they are progressing positively.

The former Brighton man is keen to extend his stay at the Emirates, while Arsenal see him as a key part of their project moving forward.

“The next one will be Ben White because the conversations are very positive, from what I understand,” Romano said. “They are still speaking, there is still no breakthrough in the conversations, but it’s progressing.

“Ben White wants to stay. Arsenal want him to be part of the plans. Also, there is no rush because the contract is still long, so it’s not an urgent situation.

“But at the same time, it’s still part of the plans for Arsenal to keep White in terms of salary and also in terms of length of contract.

“The conversations keep going but I’m sure in the next weeks or months everything will be completed and White will probably sign a new deal.”

It would be a huge boost for Arsenal to secure White’s long-term future as the defender has starred under Arteta.

He’s established himself as one of the Premier League’s best right-backs after being moved out to full-back last season.

While it’s vital that Arsenal continue to add quality to their squad, it’s equally important they keep hold of their star players.

White certainly falls into that category and it seems that Arsenal fans can expect him to commit his future to the club over the coming months.
