Ange Postecoglou really wants Tottenham to sign £200k-a-week forward in January transfer window now

Ange Postecoglou wants Tottenham Hotspur to sign Jota, a player he worked with at Celtic.

That is according to The Times, which has noted what Tottenham are now planning to do regarding the £200,000-a-week (The Scottish Sun) forward.

So, what has been reported about Tottenham Hotspur, Ange Postecoglou and Jota? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to The Times, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Jota from Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League.

Spurs have “stepped up their interest in Jota” and club chairman Daniel Levy could make a bid to bring the winger to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the January transfer window on a loan deal.

The report has noted that Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou worked with Jota at Celtic. The Spurs boss “wants reunion” with the forward at the Premier League club. The Hoops have also been linked.

The Times has claimed that Al-Ittihad are ready to send Jota out on loan despite signing him from Celtic only in the summer of 2023. They paid £25 million in transfer fees for the forward. Postecoglou left Celtic at the end of last season to take charge of Tottenham.

Jota could be a success at Tottenham Hotspur

In my opinion, Jota could be a success at Tottenham Hotspur. Signing the Portuguese winger on a loan deal would also reduce the risk of a big financial outlay. Ally McCoist rates him highly.

Now, of course, some will be sceptical. After all, Jota did well in the Scottish Premiership, not in the Premier League. And, he is now playing in the Saudi Pro League, not in a major domestic league in Europe.

However, if Postecoglou thinks that Jota would make Spurs better and more potent, then I think that Tottenham should try to get a deal done in the middle of the season.
