Loan coach’s comments highlight Yosuke Ideguchi’s poor luck

It seems that Leeds United loanee Yosuke Ideguchi will not be back in action again this year. The Japan international has suffered a ruptured posterior cruciate ligament injury. Speaking about the injury, his manager at loan club Greuther Furth, Damir Buric, has revealed how much he will be missed.

His comments highlight the impact the Japan midfielder had made in such a small time at the club.

It is just another bad turn in a rotten year for the player. After joining Leeds for a fee reported to be in the region of £500,000 in January the former Gamba Osaka player has appeared cursed.

“He has shown us a great attitude so far and we’ll miss him a lot.”

He was loaned out to sister club Cultural Leonesa in Spain’s second-tier. The manager there did not take a shine to the player and he barely played as the club were relegated. His poor loan spell cost him a place in Japan’s thrilling World Cup run. Now, as things looked like turning around at a loan club that clearly appreciated him, injury has struck.

It is clear the 2.Bundesliga side was willing to give him a chance to shine in Germany. He had already found the net for the club, scoring in his debut against Holstein Kiel.

Now he will sit out the rest of the year, hoping for a better 2019.
