Leeds United round-up: Ideguchi knee injury, Adkins praise, Douglas injury

Injury woe for loanee

Leeds United loanee Yosuke Ideguchi has been dealt a bitter blow during his loan spell at Greuther Furth. The Japanese international has suffered a rupture to his posterior cruciate ligament, as confirmed by the German club’s Twitter account.

The injury is similar to the one suffered by Patrick Bamford and is likely to leave Ideguchi out of action until approaching 2019.

The midfielder, whose previous loan spell at Cultural Leonesa also ended in disappointment, will now hope to bounce back from this latest setback.

Adkins praise

Leeds United defeated Hull City 1-0 in the Championship last night. After the game, opposing manager Nigel Adkins spoke of how impressed he was with the display from the Leeds team.

Speaking to his club’s official website he stated that Leeds will take ‘teams to the cleaners’ this season and tipped the Whites for promotion.

The win took Leeds back to the top of the Championship table.

Douglas injury

Marcelo Bielsa has discussed the injury picked up by Scottish left-back Barry Douglas in the win over Hull. The Argentine stated that the defender has a ‘muscular problem’ that is still under assessment. However, it would seem unlikely that he will feature in the upcoming clash with Brentford.

Tom Pearce and Stuart Dallas are options he could consider instead.
