Pre-season plans
Leeds United have confirmed their plans for pre-season, as they prepare for another season in the Championship. The Whites will kick things off with a fixture against League Two side Forest Green Rovers. They will then take on the likes of York City, Oxford United, Guiseley and Las Palmas, without leaving the UK to save on time. They have already embarked on a post-season tour to Myanmar, which was steeped in controversy.
Leeds United’s players will return to first-team training on June 25th, accept for Pontus Jansson who will on international duty at the World Cup with Sweden.
Jerry acquired
The long and protracted transfer saga over Jerry Mbakogu seems to be coming to an end. A deal for the Carpi striker is reportedly as good as done. According to the club’s president a deal is already in place and the striker will be making the move in the coming weeks.
Claudio Caliumi told Resto del Carlino, as reported by Inside Futbol, that the deal was done and only a ‘cataclysmic’ event would prevent it from going ahead.
At the start of the month the Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Leeds were chasing the player, valued at around £4 million. It now seems they will get their hands on the player who will hopefully help solve their shortage in the striking department.
Ideguchi heartache
Leeds United midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi has missed out on a place in the Japan squad for this summer’s World Cup.
The January signing from Gamba Osaka looked like a certain inclusion prior to his Elland Road arrival.
However, a disappointing loan spell at Cultural Leonesa has seen him lose his place ahead of Russia this summer.
