‘I just knew’…Michael Owen says he’s been proven right on £22m Tottenham player

Michael Owen has been singing the praises of Tottenham forward Heung-Min Son and admitted he’d predicted his good form this season.

Son has stepped into the captain’s role as well as a more central striker position with Harry Kane leaving for Bayern Munich in the summer.

Since doing so, Son has looked back to his best and has eight Premier League goals already this term.

That leaves him third in the scoring charts behind Mo Salah and Erling Haaland. And speaking about Son before Tottenham player Manchester City today, Michael Owen says he predicted goals for the Korean.

Michael Owen says he just knew Heung-Min Son would fly under Postecoglou

Speaking on Premier League productions about the top goal scorers this season, Owen admitted he’d picked out Son as Spurs’ main man.

“I said Son, this year, just because with his injuries last year – I’ve had it, it drags you down. I just knew with this manager, they’re going to play to his strengths. And with Harry Kane leaving, he could fill in that role. I do think he’s going to have a brilliant season and he’s started off really well,” Owen said.

One of Spurs’ best ever signings

When you think Tottenham paid just £22m for Heung-Min Son, it has to be said it goes down as one of their best ever pieces of business.

The South Korean skipper has seemed to get better and better and despite a dip under Antonio Conte, he has proven himself as a world class player this season.

Stepping into the void left by Harry Kane was never going to be easy but Son has done it with ease and even added another dimension to Tottenham’s play.

Right now, he’s one of the best players in Europe and Tottenham are lucky to have such a star on their hands.
