Any debate over Cenk Tosun’s future destination appears to have been stamped out by the player himself on his official Instagram account.

The Turkish striker has been linked with a host of names across Europe in recent weeks. CSKA Moscow, Celta Vigo, and Saint-Etienne have all been keen on the player with teams in England also said to have cast an eye.

However, for the past 24 hours it has looked increasingly likely that Tosun is heading back to Turkey and his former club Besiktas.

That has now almost been confirmed by the player, with Tosun posting a picture to his Instagram of himself dressed in a Besiktas shirt and boarding the club’s private jet.

According to a report from NTV Spor, Tosun was getting on the plane at John Lennon Airport and will be arriving at Ataturk Airport in Turkey around midnight tonight local time (21:00 GMT).

Everton are now surely short of a striker and fans will be hoping the club are on the hunt for a new arrival before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.

Tosun, who was signed in a £27 million (Sky Sports) deal by Sam Allardyce in 2018 has struggled to have a lasting impact at Goodison Park despite what was clearly always his best efforts.

Hopefully, this loan move back to familiar surroundings can prove fruitful.
