Report: Championship and Bundesliga clubs want Anthony Gordon on loan, Bernard future key

Talented Everton winger Anthony Gordon is attracting transfer interest from the Championship and Germany, according to reports.

The Liverpool ECHO is reporting that the teenage attacker has coveting eyes in the second-tier and in Germany’s Bundesliga. The interest would undoubtedly be for a loan deal, with Everton extremely unlikely to be considering Gordon’s exit on a permanent deal.

However, Everton’s decision on whether to loan Gordon out will depend on the future of Bernard.

The Brazilian is wanted by Al Nasr of the United Arab Emirates. Everton are keen to get his hefty £120,000-a-week (The Mirror) salary off the club’s already bloated wage bill.

If they do lose Bernard, then there is very little chance Gordon will be allowed to follow, given Everton’s lack of wide options.

Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of Gordon’s as he explained back in July.

“He is a player with personality,” Ancelotti told the Everton website. “You can find a lot of players with quality, but you have to show a strong personality. In football, you need players with personality and character.

“Players who are not afraid to make decisions. Anthony is one of these. He is ready to be with us and part of what we are doing.”

However, when given admittedly rare chances this season Gordon has failed to ignite suggesting he might need that regular playing time out on loan to become a first-team star for the Toffees.

Everton fans have high hopes for Gordon so will hope any loan move is well-considered and sees the youngster join a team where his talents will be best served.
