Report: Everton striker Cenk Tosun wanted by Saint-Etienne

Everton are not expecting to stand in the way of Cenk Tosun’s potential departure before the end of the transfer window, with teams in Turkey, Russia and Spain keen on securing his services.

As reported by the Liverpool ECHO, Everton are ready to let Tosun leave over the next couple of days.

Tosun was not involved in Everton’s drab 2-0 loss to Newcastle United earlier today as Everton allow him to search for an exit along with Jonas Lossl and Bernard.

A new report from the ECHO is suggesting that Besiktas, his former club, are the favourites to sign Tosun – who has in the past expressed a desire to resist a return to Turkish football, seeing it as a step backwards.

CSKA Moscow and Celta Vigo are also considered to be potential destinations for the German-born Turkish striker – as reported by the Guardian recently.

In the last few hours, a new team has entered the race to sign Tosun. Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne are now said to be interested.

France Football is suggesting Les Verts have moved to Tosun after missing out on Egyptian international Mostafa Mohamed to Galatasaray.

They claim a €500,000 (£442,000)  loan fee could be on the cards which would see Tosun arrive at the French club for the rest of the season.

Tosun was signed by Sam Allardyce in January 2018. He cost £27 million, as reported by the BBC, and Big Sam claimed he was the ‘best in Europe’ at that price.

But he has struggled to fulfill that proclamation and injuries have also been an issue since his arrival at Goodison Park.
