Wigan confirm they would consider Kyle Joseph sale at £1m but are not ‘encouraging’ offers

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be one of the teams leading the race to sign talented striker Kyle Joseph from Wigan Athletic this month.

The talented young striker has reportedly been on Tottenham’s radar for some time. The Sun previously reported that Spurs failed in a £150,000 move in the summer and The Mirror suggested that Tottenham are battling the likes of Celtic and Rangers for his signature.

If Tottenham are adamant about getting their man, they now know how much it might cost them.

This week has seen Barnsley have a bid of £500,000 rejected for the League One starlet and Wigan are looking for double that before they consider a sale.

Wigan are currently in administration and one of those in charge of the club currently, Paul Stanley, told Wigan Today that £1 million might have them rethinking their not for sale stance on Joseph.

“Obviously we also have a duty to the creditors, and if someone came in with a million quid upfront we might have a decision to make.

“But at the same time I don’t want to do anything to jeopardise the sale of the club, I don’t want the club to get relegated, and you want to keep hold of your best players.

“So as far as that goes we’re not encouraging any offers and we don’t want any more offers.”

Tottenham would be looking at Joseph as a player for the future and it is hard to see them spending seven figures on a player so inexperienced, despite his obvious ability.

Tottenham were only willing to pay a fraction of that in the summer and it is hard to see them putting up a significantly higher figure this month.
