Florian Neuhaus admits he’s aware of transfer speculation after reported Tottenham interest

Reports this week have suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus.

Sport1 claims that Spurs, along with several other elite clubs across Europe, are keen on the 23-year-old German international who has been in fine form for Die Fohlen so far this season.

Spurs, along with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are showing interest in the player who has a £35.5 million release clause active from the summer.

Now, the player himself has commented on the rumours.

Neuhaus does not specifically reference Tottenham but does admit he notices transfer rumours are picking up around him.

However, he remains focused on his current role at Gladbach.

“That’s not a big issue for me at all,” Neuhaus told the DFB website of the increased interest.  “I can assess that very well. What matters to me is what happens on the pitch. Everything else doesn’t matter.

“I notice it just like everyone else. I am very interested in football and read the big newspapers. So of course I get that. But as I said, this is not an issue for me.”

There is, of course, seemingly no chance that Neuhaus is being eyed up as a January target for Spurs. Gladbach are not in a position where they need to sell and Tottenham would not be able to afford his price-tag, especially with January premiums on top.

Instead, this looks more like a deal for the summer should Tottenham decide they need to make further improvements to their midfield area.

Neuhaus, it seems, will be keeping track of proceedings.
