BBC pundit ‘flabbergasted’ by what he noticed about Bukayo Saka in Arsenal win over Wolves

Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka enjoyed a fruitful afternoon as he helped the Gunners beat Wolves in the Premier League.

So much so, in fact, that BBC Sport pundit Pat Nevin admitted he was “flabbergasted” by how much space the visitors conceded to the 22-year-old Gunners star.

Saka opened the scoring for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, finishing off a great team move in the sixth minute of the match.

The Gunners added a second through Martin Odegaard in the 13th minute, but endured a nervy finish as Matheus Cunha halved the deficit in the 86th minute of the match.

Along with breaking the deadlock for the Gunners, Saka was a consistent threat, causing Wolves no end of issues every time he ran at them.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka unplayable against Wolves

Wolves left-back Hugo Bueno struggled to cope with the Arsenal man, giving him too much space, particularly in the opening 20 minutes.

In the end, Gary O’Neil replaced the 21-year-old Spaniard just after the hour, bringing the experienced Matt Doherty on in his place.

In the second half, just before the substitution, Nevin said on BBC Radio 5 Live, via the BBC Sport website: “I’m quite flabbergasted at the space Saka is getting.”

As per Whoscored, the Arsenal star fired three shots, two of which were on target, made four key passes, completed two dribbles, whipped in six crosses, and even weighed in with two tackles, an interception and a clearance.

Saka has been world-class for years now, but he’s getting better and better as time passes. It’ll be exciting to see just what level he reaches when he’s in prime, five or six years from now.
