New Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has decided to give six stars an extended break, according to The Scotsman.
The Australian took charge of his first-ever training session at Lennoxtown earlier today. Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie, Greg Taylor, David Turnbull, Jack Hendry and James Forrest weren’t involved after Scotland were knocked out of Euro 2020.
McGregor featured heavily of the six players, starting two of the three group games. Christie and Hendry started just one clash and missed out on the final two.
Forrest came off the bench for the final game against Croatia, whilst Turnbull didn’t appear for the Tartan Army.
Postecoglou has given them extra time off to ‘recharge their batteries’ after their involvement.
Scotland endured a tough ride in their first tournament since 1998, exiting at the group stages. The nation finished bottom of their group below England, Croatia and the Czech Republic.

Some of the players enjoyed limited game time. But, Scotland seemed emotionally invested in the tournament. To fail may well have proven difficult for all involved, including the players.
Allowing for extra time off can help the players recover ahead of monster campaign next year. Rangers were the runaway leaders last term, winning the title by 25 points from the Bhoys.
There is a need for massive improvement to ensure Steve Gerrard’s men don’t repeat their feat.
And after the last 18 months, an extended break is the least these players deserve.
