‘Back to his best’: Some Celtic fans rave about their ‘brilliant’ star’s display for his country

Callum McGregor ended up scoring in vein for Scotland last night at Euro 2020 – but some Celtic fans on Twitter were extremely positive about the international performance from their star.

Scotland were eliminated on Tuesday from the Euros in the group stage. The fate of Steve Clarke’s side was sealed after a 3-1 defeat against Croatia.

Therefore, they exit the competition with just the one point they earned against England to their name.

Nikola Vlasic put Croatia ahead at Hampden Park in the 17th minute. But, McGregor equalised just before half time to spark wild celebrations.

The 28-year-old Celtic midfielder fired in a low finish from the edge of the box with his weaker right foot.

However, a classy Croatian outfit booked their spot in the Round of 16 with second-half goals from Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic.

Celtic fans love Callum McGregor display for Scotland

A selection of Hoops supporters on Twitter believe McGregor massively impressed for Scotland.

The box-to-box central midfielder showed amazing individual ability to keep his shot on target with a difficult finish.

In addition, he left everything out on the pitch with a spirited display in a losing cause.

For McGregor, his extremely high standards possibly dipped during the 2020/21 season. But, a new manager in Ange Postecoglou has now taken charge at Parkhead for the new campaign.
