Neil Lennon now shares how many signings Celtic need to go and make in January

Celtic have a large squad that Brendan Rodgers plans to trim during the January transfer window.

The Celtic manager has been vocal in the need to get the squad to a level where he thinks the squad is not carrying too many players but Neil Lennon has said that Rodgers still needs to add more.

Lennon said [PLZ Soccer], “January is always a difficult month to do business but he needs at least two.

“But if he’s out of Europe he may have to rethink that. Or look at the following season to bed these players in between January and August to get them up to speed for the Champions League next season.

“I would like to see them buy some quality, ready-made players for that.”

Celtic’s transfer business is under the spotlight

Celtic’s 6-0 humiliation at the hands of Atletico Madrid has highlighted the need for Brendan Rodgers to add more quality to the first team.

Yes, I know that Celtic were down to ten men for much of the match but if the fans are really honest with themselves they know that there are key positions that really need to be strengthened.

Joe Hart is out of contract at the end of the season and David Turnbull is also edging towards the end of his current deal.

Those are two positions that Celtic could look at adding but another area Celtic must look at is the striker department.

Celtic are fortunate that Kyogo Furuhashi’s injury happened right at the beginning of the international break and that he won’t miss any fixtures.

With only Hyeongyu Oh on the bench and Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda injured, Celtic look very short in the number nine position and Rodgers will, no doubt, look to add another player in that area.

So it looks like Lennon is wrong. There could be more than just two bodies needing to be added to the Celtic squad in January.
