European club now scouting ‘phenomenal’ 25-year-old Celtic player

R.S.C. Anderlecht are reportedly scouting Celtic defender Liam Scales, who has been in sensational form this season under Brendan Rodgers.

It’s been quite a few months for the 25-year-old centre-back, who has gone from outcast at Celtic Park to now one of the Hoops’ most outstanding players this campaign.

Lauded as ‘phenomenal’ by David McMillan, Scales has turned a corner and then some for Celtic this season, and as a result, transfer interest is now beginning to boom for the defender.

Football Scotland report that Belgian giants Anderlecht have now been scouting the Republic of Ireland international for the past few weeks, with Scales’ contract due to expire in 18 months.

With rumours suggesting that a new contract could be on the table for Scales at Celtic, the next few weeks will certainly be interesting for the Irish defender.

Indeed, staying in Glasgow could be the best option for the 25-year-old centre-back, yet with a club as big as Anderlecht, currently placed second in the Jupiler Pro League, now interested, decisions need to be made.

With Anderlecht one of the biggest clubs outside of Europe’s top-five leagues and a regular in European competitions, there could be a temptation from Scales to swap Celtic for Belgium.

However, with the Hoops still in flying form under Rodgers and the Northern Irish manager getting the best out of Scales, why should the defender depart Glasgow?

As we know, the defender has emerged as a defensive superstar in the making for Celtic this season, and moving on now would seem like an odd move from Scales.

Moreover, with the Hoops eager to hand the 25-year-old a new deal, signing fresh terms at Celtic should be exactly what Scales does as his next big career move, with the defender right where he needs to be.
