Manager says centre-back on loan from Tottenham has been truly ‘brilliant’

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Joe Rodon is enjoying a solid season away at Leeds United.

The Spurs defender sealed a season-long switch to Elland Road in the summer amid few opportunities at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As per the Evening Standard, the deal involving the Tottenham man is a straight loan with no option or obligation to buy.

Rodon was especially impressive last week, when Leeds defeated Championship leaders Leicester on their own patch.

“Tremendous,” Leeds Live wrote about the Spurs man, who got a 9 out of 10 rating for his efforts on the night.

“Came into his own as the pressure was piled on in the final quarter of the match.

“Reduced Jamie Vardy to a spectator in the first half. Some massive slides, blocks and clearances in the second period.”

Speaking ahead of Leeds’ meeting with Plymouth, manager Daniel Farke said the Tottenham man would definitely remain on loan past January.

“Joe will stay with us,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“He’s an important player for my plans and it is important we have stability.

“I am happy and pleased with his development, he has to keep going and that’s important.

“So far so good but it is always about the next game.

“We have to make sure we are there with good performances and he has been brilliant so far.”

Rodon form could be food for thought for Spurs boss Postecoglou – TBR View

Rodon, 25, joined Spurs from Swansea for around £11million in 2020.

However, he has only made a handful of appearances for Tottenham and spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 Rennes.

It’s good to hear that Rodon is doing so well at Leeds. Ange Postecoglou has some food for thought for next season.

As we’ve seen this week, it doesn’t take much for multiple players to be ruled out of action and derail a club’s preparations.

If all goes well, who knows, next season Postecoglou could look to integrate Rodon into his squad to avoid another scenario where he may have to use youth team players in the starting XI in case of injury and suspension.
