Mark Wilson admits he got it wrong about Celtic’s ‘fantastic’ summer signing

The transfer market can be a bit hit-and-miss for Celtic but many will agree that, this summer, there has been more success stories than failures.

The purchase of Hyunjun Yang is now starting to look like an inspired piece of business. As is Odin Thiago Holm. The Norwegian impresses with each passing game.

We’ve still to see the likes of Marco Tilio due to injury and Gustaf Lagerbielke, although has done well in the games he has played, seems to have dropped off the face of the Celtic first-team.

However, there is one player that is outshining them all and proving former Celtic defender, Mark Wilson, completely wrong.

Wilson said [BBC Sportscene], “I think Palma, in particular, was a wee bit of a slow starter. You know when he came in there was a lot of people labelling him, probably myself as well, he was a wee bit short of pace for a wide man.

“But I think he’s certainly proved that wrong. And just his quality on the ball is what sets him apart from anyone in this country at the minute.

“I mean when it gets the ball he’s got bags of space but to have the ability to dig that out with the outside of your boot is just really fantastic technical ability.

“And he brought that all day. He gives Celtic a real outlet. He can play on the right and left he can score the odd outstanding goal as well.

“So he’s really been a find.”

Indeed, Mark Wilson is not the only pundit that Palma has proved wrong. Not too long ago we told how Barry Ferguson got it completely wrong with his opinion on the Honduran.

The bare facts are that Palma is a top-quality player who is ‘tearing up‘ the Scottish Premiership with ease.

His class and humility have endeared him to not only the Celtic fans, but the opposition players as well.

Celtic fans will need to enjoy Palma while they can because if he keeps up this kind of form it won’t be long till he gets his next big move.
