Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd has praised Liverpool defender Joe Gomez for his role in Roberto Firmino’s second goal against Rangers on Wednesday night.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds ran riot at Ibrox despite falling behind to Scott Arfield’s 17th-minute goal.
Rangers’ lead lasted just seven minutes, with Roberto Firmino equalising for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Brazilian held off James Tavernier and sent a glancing header into the net from Kostas Tsimikas’ in-swinging corner.
Liverpool and Rangers were level at the break, before Gomez helped put the visitors in front.
In the 55th minute, the £3.5m defender charged down Liverpool’s right flank and sent a superb low cross into the box.
Firmino was on hand to dispatch for his second goal of the night.

And Boyd, speaking on Sky Sports News, lauded the “unbelievable” play by Gomez to set up the Reds forward.
“What a goal that was,” he said. “It’s unbelievable play from Liverpool down the right-hand side.
“It just shows that, if you switch off for those little seconds at this level, you’ll get punished.”
Firmino then turned provider with a deft backheel assist for Darwin Nunez to slot past Allan McGregor on 66 minutes.
By then, the floodgates had well and truly opened, and Rangers were unable to stop the red juggernaut.
In the 72nd minute, Mohamed Salah came on and scored a quickfire hat-trick, with just over six minutes between his first and third goal.
And three minutes from time, Harvey Elliott struck an emphatic finish – which stood after a VAR check – for his first Champions League goal.
‘Physical and decisive’
Gomez earned himself positive ratings from media outlets on the night.
The Liverpool Echo gave him 7 out of 10 for his efforts.
“Physical and decisive at right-back up against Kent,” they wrote.
“Escaped after one blind backpass and put in excellent pass for Firmino’s second. Booked.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool World went with 8 out of 10 for Gomez.
“Got lucky when an attempted blind backpass to Alisson wasn’t punished,” they wrote.
“But was sound for the most part and his pinpoint pass created Firmino’s second which opened the floodgates. Booked late on.”
