Glasgow Rangers icon Kris Boyd has waxed lyrical about Ibrox attacker Ryan Kent following his “exceptional” efforts for Steven Gerrard’s side this season.
The 24-year-old has registered 13 goals and 14 assists in all competitions this season, shining in the league en route to title number 55, as well as in the Europa League.
Kent was especially impressive in the last Old Firm derby as Rangers ran out 4-1 winners and the attacker ran the show, the Celtic defence simply unable to cope with him.
Boyd picked Kent amongst his top five Rangers this season and also praised him for how he overcame a downturn in form to get back to his very best.
“With wingers and strikers especially, you always get a bit of a dip in form at some point and there’s no doubt that happened with Kent but he returned to those levels towards the end of the campaign,” he wrote on Sky Sports.
“There was a period where everybody was saying he needs to come out of the team – but if you watch the way Rangers play and the difference when he is in the team – even if he’s not at his brilliant best, he still has an impact in the game.
“Right up until around the Christmas period he was unbelievable and he rediscovered that form again towards the end of the season.

“Rangers as a football club need a lot of credit for being able to say no (to interest in Kent from other clubs) and believe in what they were trying to do, and they’ve definitely done that.
“Kent has been exceptional for the majority of the season but even when his form has dipped a little bit, he’s still had a massive, massive impact on this Rangers team and the way they play.”

Not really much more you can add to Boyd’s assessment of Kent this season – he has been truly outstanding and his heroics against Celtic in the 4-1 win will be remembered for years to come.
There’s bound to be a lot of interest in Kent over the summer but with the prospect of more silverware on the horizon, including in Europe, it’ll be hard to tempt him away from Ibrox.
