Kris Boyd hints at Celtic player who’d improve Rangers

Kris Boyd has hinted to Sky Sports that Rangers would be even more dominant if they had Odsonne Edouard at Ibrox as he named the striker ahead of Alfredo Morelos in his Scottish Premiership Team of the Season.

Of course, it has been Rangers’ year in the top flight. Steven Gerrard’s side sit 20 points clear at the top of the table and have had the title wrapped up for some time.

However, one honour the Gers look set to miss out on is the top goalscorer award. Morelos and James Tavernier have both reached 11 in the Premiership.

But they both find themselves five behind Edouard. And Boyd suggested that the gulf between the Light Blues and the rest would be even larger if the Celtic star played for the Gers.

“There is no getting away from the fact Odsonne Edouard is the best striker in the league,” he told Sky Sports. “I’d always have the top goal scorer in my team. What Alfredo Morelos does for Rangers is brilliant but if Edouard was in that team, Rangers would be beating teams 3-0 or 4-0 every week.”

It should be noted that Edouard has featured in a couple more games than Morelos in the Premiership.

Having said that, the 23-year-old also edges out the Colombian for the number of assists he has provided.

That will be little consolation for Edouard, with it proving to be a hugely disappointing season for the Hoops.

It will be interesting to see whether the pair manage to go head-to-head again next year. It looks set to be a busy summer at Parkhead with a lot of changes on the cards, while it is difficult to recall a transfer window when Morelos has not been linked with the Ibrox exit.
