Celtic fans rave about Liel Abada after League Cup win over Raith Rovers

Liel Abada scored his fifth goal for Celtic since joining the club in the summer, as Celtic eased past Raith – and Celtic fans have reacted.

Abada, 19, started on the right flank as the Hoops looked to book their place in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals. They did so with ease.

Jota opened the scoring at Parkhead, the Benfica loanee’s first goal for the club – after a gorgeous pass from the much-criticised James McCarthy.

A good moment for both involved. Then, Israel international Abada got in on the act. Jota saw an effort parried, and Abada was on hand to head in.

A third came when David Turnbull, arguably Celtic’s best player so far this season, picked the ball up in drove forward. Abada made a run in front.

However, Turnbull used it as a decoy – before curling a brilliant effort into the far corner. A comfortable win that was never in doubt for Celtic.

What are Celtic fans saying about Abada, after fifth goal?

Abada has made an electric start, even though his form has probably gone under the radar somewhat. What he is doing at 19, is incredible.

Nine goal involvements in 12 games is superb for any player. But for a teenager to be doing it in a completely different country, is sensational.

When James Forrest, Jota, Kyogo Furuhashi, Adam Montgomery and Abada are all fit – it will be interesting to see how starts for Ange Postecoglou.

But Abada is certainly looking more and more like he will be first choice after another goal. Celtic fans applauded summer signing Abada.
