‘Eventually’: Chris Sutton has identified the next Celtic player who will be sold for ‘big money’

Celtic’s win over Hearts on Sunday has really grabbed the headlines over the last 48 hours. Brilliant football coupled with some amazing goals has put the spotlight of the media firmly onto the reigning Scottish champions.

Goals from Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Tomoki Iwata re-established Celtic’s seven-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

But most importantly the performance sent a huge message to Rangers who must have thought that their 4-0 win over Hibernian was putting them back into the title race.

But getting back to Celtic, Chris Sutton believes he has identified the next Hoops player who is certain to go for a huge transfer fee after what he saw him do against the Edinburgh side.

Matt O’Riley’s opening goal for Celtic has set tongues wagging as the 22-year-old took all the plaudits for his ‘wonderful’ finish

What has Chris Sutton said about Celtic’s Matt O’Riley?

The former Celtic hero was blown away with the Danish u21 international’s goal and Sutton believes that he will be the next player to leave Paradise for ‘big money’.

Sutton said [BBC 606], “Did you see Matt O’Riley’s goal? Wonderful technique. He will be the next one off the conveyor belt at Celtic and he will go for big money eventually.”

TBR Celtic have brought to our readers all the reaction from various pundits about not only O’Riley’s goal but also his overall performance.

His football was so good on Sunday that former Celtic hero, Pat Bonner compared O’Riley to former Celtic midfielder, Billy Stark.

However, if Sutton is correct and the midfielder does move for big money, it is likely that he will go for more than double the fee Leeds United offered Celtic in the final day of the summer transfer window.

This won’t worry the Celtic fans. They already know that O’Riley is destined to play in a league far bigger then the SPFL.

All they will wish for is that the £1.5m man will hang about Celtic for a few more seasons yet before he does get his big-money move.
