Spanish club ‘regret’ not signing £3.5m Celtic player in the summer

Celtic have a number of players that could play in any league in the world. Such is the talent in the squad, some of our players would look out of depth in Europe’s top five leagues.

Callum McGregor has proven his worth for Celtic in the Champions League. Matt O’Riley has been the subject of interest, and offers, from teams in England.

And just this week, TBR Celtic told you how James Forrest was told that he could have been a star in the English Premier League.

This time, it’s the turn of Celtic winger, Luis Palma. The Honduran has been a sensation since his £3.5m summer move from Aris to Celtic.

But it could have been so very different for Celtic and Palma had Spanish side, Levante, had not rejected the opportunity to sign him.

According to the Honduran media outlet, Deportes TVC, the La Liga 2 side now ‘regret’ not snapping up Palma.

The report claims, “In the last transfer window, Levante rejected the opportunity to sign Luis Palma, months later they regret it and that is why they have decided to incorporate Honduran talent into their ranks.”

The talent they speak of is a young 15-year-old player called Marco Antonio Reyes who they have snapped up as they look to break into the Honduran market.

So it seems that Palma was in demand before Celtic swooped and snapped him up. TBR Celtic told how the 23-year-old was available for just over £200k two seasons ago.

But now a fully established first team player, Palma, even at £3.5m, looks like a shrewd piece of transfer business by Celtic.

The Honduran international winger is now chipping in with goals and assists as Brendan Rodgers looks to retain the SPFL title.
