Kai Havertz sums up what Bukayo Saka did against Brentford in one word

Kai Havertz has used one word to sum up the quality of the cross from Bukayo Saka for his goal which took Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Havertz was speaking to Match of the Day after proving to be the Gunners’ hero in their hard-fought victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Arsenal looked set to follow the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool by earning a point in their first game after the international break. Mikel Arteta’s men went into the final couple of minutes of normal time level with the Bees.

But Bukayo Saka managed to produce a stunning cross towards the back post. And there was Kai Havertz to nod the ball in and send the away end into a frenzy.

It has the potential to be a massive moment for Havertz. But after the game, he was full of praise for the assist from Saka.

“These late winners are nice and then to celebrate in front of the fans it was a good feeling for sure,” he told Match of the Day.

“The cross was amazing and I thought maybe why not do this run and the ball was perfect and I scored.”

Youngster stepped up with Gunners not at their best

It was not the best day at the office for Arsenal’s attacking players. The likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus rarely looked like making the decisive impact before they both came off.

Saka however, is an extraordinary talent. So it should have come as no surprise that he was able to produce such an outstanding cross in those final moments of the contest.

And Havertz will be hoping that that goal proves to be a turning point for him also. Ultimately, Havertz has been poor since joining in the summer.

He will be aware that there is a lot of work ahead. But he is surrounded by world-class players. So if he can get himself in the right positions more and more often, it may not be too long before he really has silenced all of his doubters.
