Liverpool came from behind to take a big point against Manchester City today thanks to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late goal.
The Liverpool full-back netted as he strode forward to the edge of the box to fire past Ederson and earn a well-deserved share of the spoils for the Reds.
Of course, Trent’s goal came just a matter of seconds after City had seen a goal ruled out to make it 2-0.
Manuel Akanji’s tackle on Alisson was given as a foul despite the VAR checks and from there, Liverpool got their equaliser.
And when questioned on the incident, Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk simply laughed off suggestions it wasn’t a foul.

Speaking to the BBC, Van Dijk had the following to say on the matter.
“It’s a foul. There is not much to say about it. It’s pretty clear, you can’t foul the goalkeeper and that’s what happened,” Van Dijk said.

Of course, Van Dijk was always going to defend the decision and in the end, it was just about right.
However, Alisson did seem to struggle throughout the day really. He gave the ball away for the goal, perhaps could have got a stronger hand to Haaland’s finish, and also had a few more nervy moments.
For both teams, the point was probably about right and Liverpool would have felt hard done by if they’d lost the game on this particular incident.
In the end, they’ve ended City’s winning run at home and depending on the results this weekend, the title race could look tighter than ever.
