‘His argument right’…Mikel Arteta’s point made after what happened during Liverpool v Man City – journalist

Liverpool drew 1-1 with Manchester City today but could quite easily have lost the game after a City goal was disallowed in the second half.

Reds goalkeeper Alisson was adjudged to have been fouled by Manuel Akanji as the ball bundled over the line from a Julian Alvarez corner. The referee gave the decision, before VAR looked at it and agreed with the on-field ref’s call.

Of course, it will be yet another decision for pundits and managers to stew over and after Arsenal’s controversy at Newcastle a few weeks back, it will be discussed you’d think.

And making the case for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta having a point about the referees and VAR, Henry Winter took to social media to share why the Gunners manager has a point.

Journalist says Arsenal have a point after Akanji challenge on Alisson

Taking to his account on X, respected journalist Winter had the following to say.

Of course, the incident being talked about is the push from Joelinton on Gabriel at St James’ Park a few weeks back.

At the time, the referee didn’t give the foul and then despite looking at it over and over, the VAR decided to not give the free-kick and Newcastle went on to win the game.

Since then, Mikel Arteta has been fuming and the Gunners have even come out in support of their manager, slamming the PGMOL and their processes.

It will be interesting, then, to see what Arteta has to say about this one over the course of the weekend.
