Gary Lineker says one Manchester City player was ‘damn good’ in last night’s Champions League clash

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias put in a simply incredible performance for Pep Guardiola’s side in the Champions League last night.

The Citizens hosted PSG at the Etihad Stadium and were looking to get over the line following their 2-1 first-leg victory.

And City got the job done with an absolutely outstanding display, with Dias arguably the standout player for his side.

As well as marshalling his defence superbly, the 23-year-old flung himself at the ball time after time and kept Mauro Icardi out of the game.

While Riyad Mahrez scored a brace, Dias was “the difference between a team that reaches the Champions League final and one that crumbles,” in the words of the Evening Standard.

The Portugal international was named Man of the Match by UEFA, with City asking fans to comment on just how good he was in the match.

And Lineker had his say:

Dias joined City last September from Benfica in a reported £65million deal and has made 46 appearances to date.

He has already lifted the League Cup and is on the verge of getting his hands on the Premier League title.

The Champions League final takes place in Istanbul on 29 May.
