Tottenham are looking to finish the transfer market with a flurry as Jose Mourinho seeks to bring in both a new striker and defender to complete his squad.
Mourinho has been backed well by Daniel Levy and the board this summer. Big deals to bring in Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon were sanctioned, while the likes of Doherty, Hojbjerg, and Hart have all arrived as well.
Next on the list for Mourinho is Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar. The Slovakian is said to be of high interest to the Spurs boss as he looks to bolster his defensive ranks.
However, with a deal for Skriniar looking expensive as Inter demand over £40m, Manchester City may have just opened the door for Mourinho to land another defender in England man, John Stones.
City have moved to sign Benfica ace, Ruben Dias. Surely, then, that means the end of the road for former Everton man Stones?

It’s easy to forget that John Stones is actually a player of immense quality. Pep Guardiola moved to bring him in early on in his tenure at the club, paying a mammoth £47.5m for the England man back in 2016.

And while his time with City might have been littered with errors, he still has experience at the very highest level and above all else, an underlying quality.
He is still also only 26-years-old, meaning his best years could still be to come. A change could be what’s needed and with Spurs on the lookout for a new defender, Stones could be the man for Mourinho.
Indeed, it was only back in July that Spurs were credited by the Telegraph with an interest in Stones. So, two months down the line, could the City man represent value for money as an alternative if Skriniar slips the net?
We think he may just be ideal for Spurs and Mourinho, who loves getting the best from defenders, may be perfect to reignite Stones’ career.
