Tottenham are being linked with Benfica defender Ruben Dias – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are thrilled with the speculation.
The Evening Standard reports that deals for Real Madrid duo Gareth Bale on loan and Sergio Reguilon for £27million are imminent.
But the report claims that manager Jose Mourinho doesn’t want to stop there with the summer spending, as he wants to still sign a striker and a centre-back.
It is understood that Benfica youngster Dias is a preferred target this window for Mourinho and the Portuguese club may need to rethink their plans on his transfer stance after missing out on Champions League football.
The report adds that the player’s agent Jorge Mendes is a longtime associate of Mourinho.
A selection of Spurs supporters on social media believe that Dias would be another excellent signing for them and they are desperate for it to be done to help improve the backline.
Dias, 23, is a ball-playing centre-back that has been dominant in the Portuguese top division, plus he’s impressed in European competitions and also for national side Portugal.

One fan even claimed it would be a similar scenario as to when Mourinho signed Ricardo Carvalho when he first arrived at Chelsea in 2004.
Portuguese centre-back Carvalho was a serial winner during a six-year stay at Stamford Bridge and pivotal in Mourinho’s Chelsea team next to John Terry.
