Report: Jorge Mendes being used by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho in pursuit of two players

Football website 90Min have claimed Jose Mourinho has called on the services of super agent Jorge Mendes to monitor the futures of Sporting Lisbon captain Bruno Fernandes and Benfica defender Ruben Dias.

Fernandes, 25, continues to be linked with a move to Tottenham and indeed many other European heavyweights after having a hand in 101 goals during 127 appearances for Sporting from midfield. He has scored 57 times, and created 44 more.

Meanwhile, up-and-coming defender Dias is being linked with a move to Spurs. The 22-year-old has already become a regular in the Portugal side, clocking up 16 caps for his country – and The Independent claim Dias is a £59million target for Spurs.

Now, Mourinho has reportedly called on the services of Mendes to keep the north London club and Mourinho himself informed on the future of both Dias and Fernandes. A move for both players will more than certainly cost more then £100million.

TBR’s view – Signing duo would immediately place Mourinho stamp

Yes, Mourinho earned three points in his first game in charge and all the signs are that the Portuguese boss has made a possitive impact. But the fact of the matter is, is that he is still working with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Mourinho needs to make his stamp and – Daniel Levy permitting – he needs to sign both Dias and Fernandes. Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen look set to leave, so a new defender in Dias would be very welcome.

Christian Eriksen is also set to go, so signing Fernandes makes complete sense. Adding those two would not only see him sign two players and make a stamp in that regard, but it is also that they are of his nationality. Must buys.
