Wolves ending up with Wallace would be anti-climactic

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ next most likely signing will be Lazio defender Wallace according to The Daily Mail.

The Black Country club have been linked with the Brazilian over the past few days, and could secure him for £6.5 million according to La Lazio Siamo Noi.

Wolves have already signed Jesus Vallejo on loan from Real Madrid, but arguably need another new face with Europa League football to contend with.

The towering centre-half has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Italian outfit, and there is hope on the part of both clubs he can complete a move to Molineux before the deadline.

Although a capable defender, Wallace is not necessarily an upgrade on any of Nuno Espirito Santo’s current options.

One man who would have been though, is Ruben Dias.

TBR’s view

Portugal international Dias will remain at Benfica for another season according to A Bola, having recently been linked with a move to Wolves.

He would have been an unbelievable signing, which renders the potential incoming of Wallace somewhat underwhelming.

Dias would have been much more expensive and perhaps quite unlikely (he supposedly has a €66 million/£60 million release clause – The Sun), but news of him remaining at Benfica still makes a move for Wallace feel like a bit of an anti-climax given the difference in ability.
